2009-10 WYHA HOCKEY SEASON BEGINS
Welcome players, parents and coaches to the 2009-10 WYHA season. This year is off to a late start due to the later than usual Labor Day holiday. Valley League schedules were finally released last night which now allows us to schedule our practices. Practices will begin on Tuesday, September 8. Games begin the following weekend, September 12. The practice schedule will be released on our website in the next couple of days. Some of our weekend practice ice hours have been changed, something out of our control, and we are asking you all to bear with us at least through the parity round of schedules with the hope (possibility) of change. We no longer have Sunday mid-morning ice. These hours have been moved to the afternoon and added to the hours we’ve always had. In other words, we have 4 ½ hours of ice on Sunday afternoons. Many of you will have games on Sundays since Valley has procured more ice in the area and weeknight games are being kept to a minimum. There may be some Sundays where you will have a game in the morning and a practice scheduled later in the afternoon (or vice versa). While this isn’t an ideal situation, it is what we’ve been dealt. We will do the best we can to keep these occurrences to a minimum, but you need to be aware this will happen. Additionally, the Saturday morning hours of 8:00 and 9:00 AM have been changed back to the original hours of 6:00 and 7:00 AM.
Thank you for being a member of Wilmington Youth Hockey and thank you for your patience and understanding with regards to the practice ice hour changes. We look forward to another fun and exciting hockey season, and I especially look forward to seeing all our players and parents next week!
